Project: Cancun Boxy by E Kate Archer and Sierra Mohr
This extended class format allows time to knit between sessions, which is ideal to explore and understand sweater knitting more fully.
The original version of the Cancun Boxy by Erin Kate Archer was envisioned as a lace-sampler vest or shirt. It is designed to be knit in two simple rectangles from the bottom up & seamed at the shoulders & sides to create a boxy shape. Very suitable for beginners, this makes an excellent first garment for knitters who know the basics!
Sierra Mohr designed a modified version of E. Kate Archer’s Cancun Lace Boxy Top. She changed the original pattern so that it is knit in one piece, starting at the underarms, going up and over the shoulders, connecting front and back at the underarms, then knit in the round to the desired length. There is no seaming required. It can be knit as cropped, blouse or tunic length, in a variety of yarn weights and/or fibers, such as cotton for a summer top, or wool as a winter vest.
Directions are given to adapt to your yarn, your gauge and your size. Lacy Stitch panels can be knit in any order desired, with 4 rows of garter separating each panel.
