Special Class with Janelle Martin: Cartouche Cowl

Project:  Cartouche Cowl
Japanese stitch patterns and advanced lace (3 hours).
Suitable for intermediate knitters with experience knitting lace.

In this introduction to Japanese stitch patterns, students will work on a DK weight cowl featuring: the flower stitch, working with twisted stitches, cabling without a cable needle, advanced chart reading skills and techniques for interpreting stitches found in Japanese stitch dictionaries.

Cost:
$40. + materials
Required Tools: 400 – 600 yards Sport/DK weight yarn, US #6/4 mm circular needle (20” – 32” long), 5 stitch markers, highlighting tape, fine cotton thread in a contrasting colour for life lines, tapestry needle, pencil and paper.  The pattern will be available for purchase. You  may bring your own needles and tools, though of course, we do sell needles and tools.

Janelle Martin
has been knitting for more than 30 years and is excited to share her passion through her designs and as a knitting instructor. Her ongoing fascination is with Japanese Stitch Patterns and architectural detailing.  Her hand knitwear designs possess an organic flow with stitch patterns flowing one into the next.
