The Lancaster Knitter's Retreat takes place in an inspiring, rural setting with excellent teachers and in the good company of knitters from near and far. We will gather at the beautiful Amish View Inn in Bird-In-Hand, Pennsylvania April 13-15, 2018. We are so pleased to welcome Tanis Gray and Patty Lyons as this year’s featured teachers!
Registration: SOLD OUT
Arrive Friday evening and meet the teachers during a casual knitting reception in the Great Room at Amish View Inn.
On Saturday attend Tanis Gray’s new course 'Beaded Lace: Coventry Cowl Workshop’ and Patty Lyon’s class 'Short Row Magic' (details below). The Saturday evening banquet will be followed by an engaging talk by Patty Lyons titled 'Oops! I accidentally knit a dress!'
Sunday morning, The Knitting Salon is envisioned as 'a cultural hub, responsible for the dissemination of good manners and sociability.' We'll spin a yarn or two, share songs and ideas and projects, and learn from each other - all to inspire you and your knitting. Saturday Classes:
“Beaded Lace: Coventry Cowl Workshop”
with Tanis Gray
Tanis Gray has designed an exclusive beaded lace cowl project debuting at our retreat!
We'll cover how to get comfortable reading lace charts, cover the differences between knitting lace in the round and knitting it back and forth, discuss the history of lace knitting, learn multiple ways to place beads in our knitting, how to add beads to any design, mattress stitch, and the best way to block and finish our lace.
You'll leave feeling comfortable and confident, ready to embrace the lace!
No previous lace experience required.
“Short Row Magic”
with Patty Lyons
You've learned how to short rows, you've even done it in a pattern, but how do you apply it to your own knitting?
Use this little bit of knitting magic to adapt patterns to fit you better. Learn how you can replace existing pattern elements such as neck shaping, armhole bind-offs and shoulder shaping.
We will explore how to add functional elements to garments such as short rows for creating bust darts, raising the back of a yoke sweater or to add decorative elements to existing patterns such as shawl collars and shirttail hems.
Short rows truly are magic!
Your paid registration confirms your reservation.
No refunds after March 1, 2018.
“A weekend full of knitting in a uniquely peaceful setting...I loved it! Who could ask for more?”
