Arrive Friday and join us for a wine and coffee reception and an evening of knitting in the Great Room at Amish View Inn.
On Saturday, attend Lorilee Beltman's 'Vertically Stranded Colorwork,' and Candace Eisner Strick's new course 'Backwards Cable Knitting.' A Saturday evening banquet will be followed by an engaging talk with Candace Eisner Strick.
Sunday morning, Lorilee and Candace will help us host The Knitting Salon. A Salon can be defined as 'a cultural hub, responsible for the dissemination of good manners and sociability.' We'll spin a yarn or two, tell a few jokes, maybe even share a song to inspire you and your knitting. Bring your knitting, come see and be seen, and let's learn and laugh and knit together.

Lorilee Beltman
Vertically Stranded Colorwork
Explore various ways that color can be added when contrast stitches climb vertically from round to round. These techniques do not inhibit the elasticity of the fabric. We’ll play with simple zigs and zags, colorful cables, lines between lace, and purl-only columns that look like caterpillars. We’ll explore its sketchy history- it is used in Rovaniemi knitting, as a substitute for duplicate stitch in argyle, and it even appears in a Japanese stitch dictionary. After class apply the coloring techniques to existing patterns worked in the round.
Prerequisites: Fluency in the basic techniques of knitting.

Backwards Cable Knitting
Ever wanted to turn a cable more frequently than the directions call for, but that turning comes on a wrong side row? There's nothing to it when you know how to knit backwards! Lost your cable needle in the couch cushions? No sweat; turn all those cables without a cable needle. Need to shape on a wrong side row? No problem. Learn some basic maneuvers backwards. It's nothing but pure fun!
Prerequisites: Fluency in the basic techniques of knitting.
