Socks are the ultimate portable project!   Requiring as little as one skein of yarn, socks can be as simple or challenging as you want. There are many different ways to knit socks and within the basic styles of socks, there is so much room for exploration! Contemporary sock yarns are modern and elegant and available in an absolute rainbow of colors.  Kettle Dyed BFL Sock was used to make all of the socks shown above and is our own in-house, hand dyed sock yarn. Shop Kettle Dyed BFL Sock online HERE.

Sock yarn is for much more than just socks.  It is perfect for one and two skein shawl patterns and ambitious sweaters, and it can be a ‘just right’ choice for knitting or crocheting hats, cowls and fingerless gloves.

Jess King is a farmer and fiber artist in Lancaster County, PA.  She will bring her hand-spun and hand-dyed Magic Penny Farm & Fiber Yarn, made with fiber from her own flock of angora goats to a Trunk Show at Lancaster Yarn Shop on Saturday, October 17 between 10 AM - 2 PM.

One of a kind single ply, 2-ply and art yarns will be available for purchase and Jess will have suggestions for one-skein projects perfect for making absolutely unique gifts for yourself or others.  Jess will be spinning yarn in the shop and sharing information about her experience as a local ‘farm to yarn’ producer.

If you love knitting or crocheting with cotton yarn, LYS now has Organic Cotton Sport from Blue Sky Fibers in the shop!  It is a naturally soft, environmentally friendly yarn, and available in 50g/136-yard hanks.  Ideal for all seasons, this lightweight cotton yarn has a matte finish and a brushed feel.  A two-ply twist provides beautiful definition in woven, crocheted or knit stitches.

Our palette of brights and deep hues is ideal for everything from tees and cardigans to wraps and cowls.  It is also especially nice for crocheted toys, knit or crocheted baby clothes and blankets.
